About This Venue
The Hi Point Pub has been an Absecon landmark at the corner of White Horse Pike and Shore Road since 1958 — founded, according to local lore, by a documented descendant of Abraham Lincoln named Maryann Louise Lincoln-Holmes, a former bootlegger who settled in Absecon after Prohibition. The building has been a neighborhood anchor for over 65 years.
In July 2023, new owner Lilian Cortes-Peterson, an Absecon local and former Army captain, took over and reopened the pub with a fresh direction: an Irish-themed identity (her husband’s roots), a renewed focus on community, and a commitment to making it a place locals can be proud of. The bar was renamed Reddogs Hi Point Pub, got new green signage and awnings, and came back stronger with all-day food service, nightly events, and an agenda that includes open mic nights, Quizzo, karaoke, comedy nights, and live music.

The award-winning crab bisque — creamy, loaded with lump crab meat, served with oyster crackers — is the dish everyone mentions first. The Hi Point Special (cheesesteak with bacon), Reuben, chicken pot pie, and French onion soup round out the local favorites. Big portions, reasonable prices.
The pub is open 24/7 and offers free Wi-Fi, outdoor seating, private event hosting, and a full event calendar that makes it one of the most active community bars in Absecon. Happy hour runs daily starting at 3pm.
